Mama has a new hair do too!

So, after realizing that I haven't been taking care of myself as much as I should be, I decided to get a totally new hair do! I realized that I have been spending so much time and effort taking care of the babe and the hubby that I often forget to take care of ME! I wanted a big change and I wanted a hairstyle that would make me do my hair everyday, feel good about myself, and feel like putting on make up to go out! Ok, I know some of you may not understand this feeling and are probably thinking: "What in the world are you talking about?!", but all you mommys out there surely will understand! So many times I feel like I don't have the time to take care of myself because I am SO busy worrying about how the other 2 in our family are doing or feeling or hungry or tired or if they need a hair cut or if they need new clothes or shoes etc., etc., etc.!! So, I have decided it's time to think about myself a little too! Of course I don't mean putting myself above everyone else all the time, just sometimes, occasionally, I've got to think about me. And, I'm glad I realized this whole thing because I also realized that if I forget to think about myself, I in turn am not happy, which in turn makes me not be the best mommy and wife I can be! So, for all you moms out there reading this, remember to take time out for you, and only you, because you truly do deserve it!

Recent Happenings!

First I have to show you all Jayda's new do. We were over at Ri-ri's house the other day and the girls were playing dress up. Michelle put a bow in Jayda's hair and she loved it! So, Ri-ri gave Jayda some bows to borrow (since mommy doesn't have her any bows because she used to always pull them out so it was pointless to even try) and she loves wearing bows now! Who wouldv'e figured? She points to it all the time and tells you that she's wearing a bow. It's so nice that she likes them now and will leave them in! Now we have to start collecting bows!

For whatever reason I feel like Jayda has grown up overnight! I felt like this back when she was 6 months old and there were lots of changes going on with her, and I feel the same way now that she's 1 1/2. It's not a bad thing, it just hit me hard recently that she is really growing up to be a big girl! She is now sleeping in her OWN room! Hallelujah! Most nights she is even sleeping through the night! It is so nice to have her in her own room now! The next step will be moving her out of her pack n play to her toddler bed, but I'm sure it will happen when she's ready. She is pretty much off of bottles (besides the one I give her at night because I'm paranoid she's not getting enough calcium), but that will probably not last very long. She only has her paci when she's sleeping or in the car and she even puts it down on her pillow when she wakes up. She's wearing a pony tail! She's going potty on the toilet! She likes to pick out what shoes she's going to wear! It's all so crazy, but also so nice for mama to have some more freedom!

We have been pretty busy lately doing all kinds of fun stuff with Jayda! To start the week off we had playgroup on tuesday morning. We recently joined a playgroup with some ladies and their kids from church and Jayda loves getting to play with everybody. And, it's really nice for me to talk to other moms, get advice, share stories about our kiddos and just be ourselves. We are loving it! We are alternating playgroup between our houses and fun places around here like Chick-Fil-A, parks, playgrounds, etc. On Thursday we went to toddler time at the library and that was a ton of fun. All the moms bring their little toddlers and the librarians read books to them, sing songs, do puppet shows and even have a craft for the kids to do at the end. Jayda and Riley had a lot of fun singing, playing, and making their polar bears. Then on friday we went to a new place called Stomping Grounds. It is an indoor playground for kids and they have a toddler area and a big kids area. They also have a coffee shop and cafe for the adults to get food and drinks and chat with their friends. Jayda was in little kid heaven at this place! She LOVED it sooo much and did not stop playing for 3 straight hours, besides to get a small snack and drink for about 10 minutes. It only costs $5 to get in and you can stay all day. Adults can also get in the play area and climb around, so of course I did and Jayda loved me chasing her all over the place. She kept wanting me to take her down the tunnel slide over and over! I don't know if I've ever seen her have SO much fun! Then on saturday the 3 of us all went down to memorial park to go running and take Jayda to the park to play. We let her play first because she was so excited to get to the park and then we went to run. It was such a beautiful sunny, cool day, couldn't of been more perfect! I got some cute pictures of her at the park. On saturday afternoon Oma came for a visit and Jayda loved getting to play with her. She stayed the night and watched Jayda while we went to church on sunday(thanks Oma!).

Going down her favorite slide at the park for the 50th time!

She loves to go down slides!

And yet another slide!

Playing at the park, check out that face!

Sunday afternoon we headed to a super bowl party at Jacob's brother Klint's house. We had a lot of fun watching the game, eating a ton of food, and Jayda had a blast running around with all the little kiddies there. As soon as we put her in her car seat to go home she passed out! Whew, last week was sure busy, but so much fun! Hopefully we get to do some more fun stuff this week!

Jayda's 1/2 birthday!

Saturday was Jayda's 1.5 birthday! I wasn't planning on having a party or anything like that, but since we were having some of our family over for dinner, I decided to make a strawberry cake to celebrate her birthday (or sort of birthday). She loved her cake and ate more sugar than she probably ever has before. She was bouncing off the walls until about 11 p.m., and when I say bouncing, I literally mean bouncing off the walls! Sheesh, at least she had a ton of fun and it's something I'll always remember!

Sitting in her pink chair on her 1.5 birthday!

Ri-Ri came over to play and this is the best pic I could get of them together, looking at the camera.

Jayda's birthday cake. I ran out of the purple icing, so that's why it just says J!

Blowing out her candles, with some help from Daddy!

Getting her first taste of icing, yuMMy! She liked this cake much more than she liked her 1st birthday cake. I guess she's acquiring the taste of sugar, hmmm, don't think that's a good thing!

She LOVED her birthday cake!

Jayda is 1.5!!!

Jayda will be 1.5 years old this saturday and it blows my mind at how fast she is growing, maturing, and changing. It seems like a lot of things have started changing recently with her. Partly because she is getting older, and probably also partly because I am now ready for these changes. Here is Jayda in a nutshell at 1.5 years old!

-She has slept in her toddler bed (on her own), in her own room (a first), for a couple of hours at a time! I am so proud of her!
-She goes to the bathroom on the potty daily now. She always claps when she does anything in the potty.
-She has to go to sleep with her baby.
-She is very nurturing to her babies. She likes to sing and dance with them.
-She can combine words together, like "Boo-dada", "Uh-oh-dada" & "No-nana"
-She loves music and loves to sing and dance
-Her favorite foods are still cheese and fruit. Another favorite is grilled cheese sandwiches.
-She has started playing dress up (thanks to Caitlyn for handing down all of her dress up clothes) and loves it!
-She loves playing with Ri-ri.
-She is learning how to share with others.
-She still loves bath time, but doesn't usually cry anymore when we get her out of the tub.
-She loves playing at the park and gets mad when we have to leave.
-She has started waking up around 6:30 a.m. some mornings instead of her usual time of 7:30 - 8:00 a.m. Not sure what's going with that, so I guess we'll see if she's changing her schedule.
-She loves to help mommy with anything. She especially loves helping me take the clothes out of the washing machine and put them into the dryer. She then puts in the dryer sheet, shuts the dryer door and closes the laundry room doors. She thinks she is such a big girl when she helps me do laundry, and I love the help! She also likes to put things into the trash for me and close doors that need to be shut.
-She successfully locked me out of the house for the first time recently while I was outside with the dogs. Thankfully Jacob got home within about 5 minutes! It was a little scary to say the least!
-She knows most people's name that she's sees regularly (or in pics-our friends/family far away).
-She reads her books all the time and loves when you read them with her.
-She loves to play with make-make (make up)and has her own make-make bag.
-She climbs on everything that she can, especially chairs, couches, stools etc.
-She loves to watch movies in her new dvd player in the car (when it's working) and says "Moo, moo, moo!!!" (for movie) everytime when get in the car. It's not working right now so she's getting a bit frustrated.
-She loves to kick and throw around the soccer ball, just wait till she's 3 and starts playing soccer!

This is our new dining room table! We absolutely LOVE it and have been wanting one for a long time! It was delivered yesterday and we ate dinner on it for the first time last night. It was so nice and spacious and it was also nice to eat in the dining room away from the t.v. and just sit and talk. For some reason it makes our house feel more like a home and I love that! One chair still has to be delivered in a few weeks because they didn't have enough in their warehouse (in case you were wondering why we have 5 chairs, not 4 or 6, at the table).

My Big Girl!

Well my little Jayda is definitely growing up fast! She is such a big girl these days. This past friday afternoon she went potty on the toilet for the first time! I was soooo excited for her and she was super excited too! I started having a feeling a few days ago that I should start trying to see if she would want to go on the potty. She knows when she goes and usually goes around the same time of day, so I figured why not? Sure enough the 2nd time I put her on the potty she went #1 & #2!! Maybe a little too much information for some, but mama is too proud not to share! By no means is she potty trained and it well probably still take a while for her to get out of diapers, but it is definitely a start. Since friday she's gone about once a day on the potty. I'm not pushing her, but just giving her the opportunity if she wants to go. I'm sure this isn't the "correct" way to potty train, but it works for her and works for me, so we're going to see how it goes. I think I'm going to try her in some pull ups pretty soon to see how those work. Wish us luck! Oh, she also just started combining 2 words together and her first combo is "Boo-Dada!". She says it ALL the time and thinks she is so funny! I keep trying to get her to say "Boo-Mama", but of course she won't!

A few weeks ago our good friends and neighbors, Scott and Michelle and their little girl Riley, had us over for a Christmas dinner and to exchange presents. The girls had so much fun playing and opening up their Christmas presents!

Pretty Little Purple People Eater!

Well, Jayda isn't really a purple people eater, but she does have on an adorable purple outfit (courtesy of Nanna and Pawpaw) and she finally is able to wear her new vans that she's had for a while (courtesy of oma). I snapped some quick pics this afternoon of Jayda in her new outfit doing her thing. She has more personality now than she EVER has had before and I'm sure it will only continue to get even bigger! Everytime I would ask her to say "cheeeeese" for the camera today she would adamantly yell back "NO!" and purposely not smile. I guess the terrible 2's have started a bit early around here! Her newest thing to do is climb up on mommy's work out bike. She had never done this before, but I guess now that I've been using the bike this winter she sees me on it and wants to try it out too. The other day I ran out of the room to get something (for like maybe 20 seconds) and came back to find her sitting up on the seat like she knew what she was doing! Now that is ALL she wants to do if she is in our room, fun stuff! Other than my crazy little purple people eater everything is going pretty well for us. Jacob is getting back into his work schedule after his very nice long vacation and Jayda and I are getting back into our normal routine.

Running away from crazy picture taking mommy!

Jayda was telling me "no", she wasn't going to smile for the camera!

Proud to be sitting in her big girl chair.

And she's up on the bike, for the 200th time!

She's pushing buttons like a pro!
