Can you feel the excitement?!
She was very good and played with her dolls and had some snacks. The plane ride was 2 1/2 hours btw. Sydney, on the other hand, not so good! Not that she was really bad, but anyone with a 1 year old probably knows that flying with a 1 year old is just not a good idea. They are at the phase that they want to explore everything around them, touch everything, get up and down constantly, not sit still, not be held, etc, etc... So, that is what she did the entire flight. She got down on the floor to play over and over, then wanted back up in our laps, then wanted to stand on top of us to see the people behind us, then threw up on me and the back of my chair, then wanted to peak through the crack in the seats to see the people behind us, then wanted to flip the tray table up and down 100times in a row, then wanted to pull Jayda's apple juice out of her hands and scream at her, then wanted to eat cheez its and proceed to spit them out all over me and her clothes, and you get the point. It was just a little bit rough needless to say, but what can you expect from a 1 year old, right?!
The girls on the airplane. This was Sydney's first plane ride.
So, we finally arrived at the airport, found someone to help us out with our 4 suitcases and 2 huge car seats and hopped on the shuttle to go to Enterprise to rent our car. By this point the girls are getting quite ancy and really tired. So...of course Jacob can't fit all of our luggage in the trunk of the car we rented. Lovely! Luckily after rearranging for about 20 minutes, wah-lah, it fit! Ha-le-lu-jah!! We jumped in the car and headed to Breckenride which was about an hour and a half away. By this point it is 8 p.m. CO time, 9 P.m. TX time, so the girls are pooped and think it is bedtime (since it is already 1 hour past). They both fall dead asleep after being in the car less than 5 minutes. This is just great! Now they can take a nap and think it's bedtime, and then not want to go to sleep until midnight even though we are completely exhausted after travelling all day with these 2 munchkins!! At least it was a peaceful, quiet drive, and considering we had no peace the entire day, it was quite welcome even if we did have to stay up all night!
We arrived at our destination around 9:30 CO time, 10:30 TX time. And of course the girls are wide awake so excited to see everyone, jumping around like little jumping beans and Sydney is waddling around the lobby shaking and bopping her head around like a little bobble head because she is so dizzy and out of it from the high altitude. Oh my! I began to think, "What in the world are we doing here and why in the world did we bring these kiddos with us????" Well after a little bit we got settled into the room and Jayda went down to swim with her cousins, probably at like 12 a.m. our time. I got the room set up and tried to set up some sort of little fort thing for Sydney's crib, which ended up not working at all. Anywho, after Jayda got back from swimming she started saying she didn't feel very well. She got really pale suddenly and I could just tell she was about to be sick. I had been warned about flying up and altitude sickness, so I just figured that is what we were dealing with. I asked her a few times if she felt like she was about to throw up and she kept saying no, but did say her throat hurt and she literally looked green! So, of course before I could get her to the bathroom, she threw up all over me (2nd time to be thrown up on for the day, that's a record!)and then a lot more in the toilet. Poor baby had major altitude sickness. Again, I was thinking, now why did we bring them with us?We all finally layed down that night around 1 a.m. our time. Whew, what a LONG day!
Unfortunately that night didn't go much better than the day. Sydney couldn't sleep in the crib so she got in bed with us, which in turn meant I didn't sleep all night. All.night.long! Yep, 0 hours of sleep and we were supposed to start skiing the next day, really? Not only could I not sleep because Sydney was in bed with us and we were in a new place, but I kept feeling like I couldn't breathe. It seemed like my chest was closing in and I couldn't catch my breath. Oh, and I had a pounding headache. Was I getting altituede sickness too? Surely not. I've been skiing at least 5 times, 3 of which in Breckenridge and had never gotten sick before, not once! Well, after puking my guts out that next morning, I realized that I sure did have altitude sickness. And, guess who else got sick again? Yep, little Jayda turned green all over again that morning and there it all came. Not fun at all. Luckily, Jacob and Sydney did not get sick, and after Jayda and I got sick that first morning, both of us seemed perfectly fine after that. Thank goodness! It was almost like something had to equalize in our bodies, and then we were good to go.
After Jayda's little episode we all got our ski gear on (that's a chore) and headed out the door to take Jayda to ski school and then to get our ski rentals. We first dropped off Jayda. I wasn't too sure how she would do being away from us (since she'd been saying all along "I want to ski with YOU mommy!") and since she'd just gotten sick and because this was a whole new thing. Luckily she had a great ski instructor that came out and greeted her and Jayda happily went on back with her and we ran out the door!
Jayda with her ski gear on all ready to go skiing! Woo-hoo!
Yay, we were so glad she had gone in and now we could finally get to do what we'd been waiting to do for months, SKI!! We got our rentals and headed out just a little after 9 when the lifts opened. It was SO nice to get out there and ski again. We hadn't been in about 5 years and had really missed it. It was the perfect weather for skiing too, about 50 degrees!

Getting a quick pic.
Me taking a quick pic up on the mountain. It was SO beautiful up there, completely amazing!
We had a blast the first day and skied some with Justin and Lourdes and then quite a bit with Stacy, Mitch and the kiddos. We met everyone for lunch back at the resort and had fun checking in with everyone.
Meeting up with the fam and the little one for lunch!

We were told to come back at 3 to watch Jayda's group lesson at the end of the day. I was so excited to see her ski! We had seen her earlier in the day on the little conveyor belt taking her up the little bunny slope and it seemed like she was having such a good time. I just knew she would love skiing, since she is such a little dare devil and loves new adventures, and because she is quite athletic. So, we booked it down the mountain and got back to ski school at 3:00 sharp. I had my camera out and ready to go and had even called and asked Suzie to bring my video camera down because I wanted to video tape her skiiing! Well, I think mommy was just a little overly excited. I got to the little fence to watch her and yelled "Jay-daaa!" and waved at her in excitement. The second she saw me she put both of her little arms out and started crying "MOMMYYYYY" hysterically. Oh no, what happened to my little skier?? I was so ready to video her and here she was crying uncontrollably and wanting me to get her out! No way! I told her to just go up the little "magic carpet" one time, ski down the bunny slope and then I'd come and get her. Poor thing cried all the way up the belt, at the top of the bunny slope, and all the way down the bunny slope, into the building and did not stop crying until we came inside and held her for several minutes.
Jayda crying at ski school. :(
Headed up the bunny slope on the magic carpet.
And coming back down, for the last time!
Apparently she was not as fond of skiing as I thought she would be! I mean, I knew there was a chance she may not like it, but never thought she would bust out crying when she saw me and want nothing more to leave ski school and never go back! After talking to her instructor it sounded like she actually did enjoy the skiing part, but cried every time they had to go inside and play, and she even took a nap at ski school (she doesn't even nap at school!). Basically, she was just completely exhausted and just wanted mommy and daddy. After ski school we took her back up to the room and then she ended up going swimming with her cousins that afternoon. She was very happy to be back with everyone!
We ended up cancelling her ski school for the next day, no surprise, and she stayed with Nanna, Pawpaw and Sydney. They went out for a ride on the gondola, went out for lunch and had a great time. Jacob and I had a blast skiing with Cole and Caitlyn that day. They had both done ski school the first day and were just skiiing on their own the 2nd day so we took them out on mostly blues and really had a great time. They were both doing so well, especially for their first time ever to ski!

Family picture after lunch the 2nd day. Too bad it turned out blurry!
The last day Jacob and I went up to the top of a couple different peaks and did some blacks, and I even did one double black (without knowing beforehand!). We had fun that day, but it was quite the workout and I decided I that I'd had my fill of thrill seeking for quite some time! I didn't wipeout the entire trip...until we got to the double black at the very top of one of the bowls. Holy cow, everytime I'd try to turn my skies back the other way I would go straight down because it was SO steep! And, the night before it had snowed 6 inches, so the powder up on the bowl was incredibly thick. It covered my entire ski and at times 1/2 way up my ski boot. So, not only was it steep and hard to turn, but the snow was really hard to get through. I went down most of the bowl sideways because evertime I'd try to turn I'd bust it. Needless to say, I wiped out several times and at one point was falling down the mountain head first upside down with my skies flying up in the air and had no idea when I would ever stop. Maybe at the bottom of the mountain? Ha, no not really, but I did go down the mountain for a ways like that. The whole way down I kept thinking "I am so in over my head! Why did I do this? I just want to get down off of this flippin' mountain!!! I'm never doing this again!!!" I finally made it down and had no idea where the guys were. Jacob started calling me and we couldn't find each other. We finally met back up at one of the restaraunts on the mountain after I went on a few black runs on my own. After doing the double black the blacks seemed easy. Never thought I would of said that! It seemed that after that double black I was just done for the day, and done with skiiing for a while. I tried to do some more blues with Jacob, Stacy, Mitch, Morgan and Brady, but I didn't last too long. I was completely worn out, physically and mentally. I was done. I checked in a little early that day and waited for Jacob to call me when he finished. I wasn't able to sleep much at all the whole time(maybe got about 2 hours a night for the first 3 nights!), my stomach was churning, my shins felt like they were being stabbed with ice picks and then broken in two from the awful ski boots that did not fit me correctly, so I was not looking too good by the end of our last day. I went back up to the room and zoned out for a bit and luckily the girls were both still napping when I got back to the condo.
After they woke up we headed to the "Tubing Hill" in Frisco so that the kiddos could tube. It's basically a big hill full of snow and you rent a tube for an hour and go up and down the hill on your tube as many times as you can. Jayda had been SO incredibly excited about this! She was so ready for it. This was much more up her ally than the ski school. Mommy was not so excited about this whole tubing experience, but Jacob assured that she would be completely safe flying very fast down this mountain. Ok, just had to trust him....She did end up having a great time and still says that was her favorite thing about the ski trip!

Sydney did not tube, but she did walk around in the snow in her little snow suit while everyone else tubed and she had a great time! She loved playing in the snow and I got some of the cutest pictures!
Loved this pic from behind of Sydney in her snow suit!
So happy to play out in the snow! This is a first for her!
Trying to get back up!
She looks like a little eskimo in this picture.
The next day, which was saturday, we headed back home for Texas. YAY!! We had so much fun on our ski trip, but we were all so ready to be home and sleep in our own beds! We finally made it home around 11 p.m. saturday night and the saying "Home sweet home" could not have been any more true that night! We had a great ime and I'm so glad we did it...but I don't think we will be going back anytime soon. Well, at least not until the girls get quite a bit older! And, I do need to give a HUGE thanks to Nana and Pawpaw for taking such good care of the girls while we were out skiing everyday and know that this trip would never of been possible if it wasn't for you guys!!! We love y'all!
SO glad to be home! YAY!!!!
