Christmas 2012 & Avery's First Month!

Well, things have been a little crazy around here with a new baby and the holidays.  Hence, the blog has taken a back seat.  Hopefully I will be able to get back up and posting more often soon.  We had a great Christmas and stayed at home this year, no surprise.  It was very nice and low key.  Oma stayed to help us after Avery was born and was here until Christmas, thank goodness!  Thank you so much Mom for all of help, we couldn't have done everything without you here!!  Love you!  Oupa came up to stay with us on Christmas Eve and we opened up all of our presents to each other then.  On Christmas evening we headed over to Justin and Lourdes' house to celebrate Christmas with them and Jacob's grandparents.  The girls had a blast and loved opening all of their fun presents!  Little Avery slept through most of Christmas. :)

The girls had fun making sugar cookies on Jayda's last day of school before Christmas break!

At Jayda's school one person each week gets to be the "bullfrog of the week" in her classroom.  Each student gets a turn throughout the school year and that person gets special privelages for the week.  Jayda got the bullfrog home right before Christmas so she was able to play with him over the break and then was the bullfrog the week she got back from the break.  We had to take lots of pictures of her with froggy and put them in a binder along with all the other students that had been bullfrog so far this year.  She also had to make an "all about me" poster with different pictures of her family, favorite places, what she wants to be when she grows up, etc.  We got lots of cute pictures since we had little froggy for so long.  When Jayda got back to school last week she got to take the lunch count to the front office, pick up books to return to the library, be line leader everyday, and she even got to stamp everyones folders at the end of the day a few times.  She LOVED being bullfrog of the week and came home so happy about all the fun stuff she'd gotten to do.

Sydney finally put her pacis out for the paci fairy to come and take them!  This was long overdue and she was such a big girl to get rid of them.  She was really excited to hang them in the tree for the fairy, but at about 10 pm that night she was screaming for her paci.  The next few nights were pretty rough but she seemed to adjus after a few days.  She was VERY attached to her paci.  She only used it at bedtime but she loved her paci so much.  It was pretty sad seeing her so upset that it was gone but we all knew she needed to get rid of it.  She's been doing great without, despite waking up in the middle of the night and coming to our room, instead of getting her paci and going back to sleep. :)

We had a dinner party at our house for Nana's 50th birthday a few weekends ago. It was so nice to have a chef come in and cook at our house for everyone!  The food was delicious and the wine was great. Definitely had a good time!

Last week Avery took a nap in her crib, in the snuggle nest, for the first time.  She slept there for 3 hours and I was so excited!  Unfortunately she hasn't been able to sleep in there again.  Hopefully she will be able to soon!
IMG_5918
Big stretch!
IMG_5920
Last week we took Avery out on her first walk.  Jayda roller bladed and Sydney rode her bike.  We all went up to the school playground and played for a while.  Avery and I walked on the track by the playground and she slept the whole time.
IMG_5923
The girls were ready to put on a show for us to Justin Beiber's "Beauty and the Beat" song.  Too funny!

This past saturday we went to Pleasure Pier in Galveston.  The girls had a blast on all the fun rides there and it was so nice to spend some quality time with the big girls.  Oma came with us and watched Avery so that was great!

They rode this froggy ride a ton of times!

They also LOVED the bumper cars!  There weren't many people there last weekend so they could do the same ride over and over without waiting in line.  They did the bumper cars at least 20 times!

Avery turned one month old yesterday!  It's so crazy that she has already been here for a whole month!  She is doing great and is such a sweet baby.  We have started having some issues with sleeping during the day, but we're hoping that some mylicon will help that.  I've been having to put her in the infant carrier most of the time the past few days so that she will sleep.  She is sleeping about 4-5 hours at a time at night so that has really helped me get some sleep.  During the day she eats every 3-4 hours and usually sleeps about an hour or two in between feeds.  She has recently started cooing saying "aaahh", "ooohhh", and "agooo".  I love when she talks.  Avery has even started smiling some in the past week.  She smiles the most after she wakes up when she's getting her diaper changed.  It is so cute!  Her big sisters love her so much and kiss and hug her all the time!  She doesn't seem to mind them either, yet.  She loves to watch the girls and loves when they talk to her.  Avery is still wearing newborn clothes, however I think we are about to move to 0-3 month clothes.  At her 2 week appointment she was up to 7 pounds, 11 ounces, so I'm guessing she weighs about 8 pounds by now.  We've also moved out of newborn diapers to size 1.  Avery still likes to be all swaddled up when she sleeps.  We love our sweet Avery Mae so much!
